Alki Point Pictures

When the weather is nice in Seattle, we tend to wake up from our winter slumber and spring out to do something outdoors. My thing is to load up my bike with my camera kit and head out to different areas and take pictures. There are so many cool places to take pictures in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest, it would take years to cover them all. So I figure that as long as I live in the Seattle area, I’ll never be bored. Weather permitting.

This weekend, I headed out to Alki Point, over by West Seattle. It’s a very popular place with beaches and plenty of waterfront scenery, including one of the best views of Downtown Seattle’s waterfront. I actually intended to take pictures of the Alki Point Lighthouse, but unbeknownst to me, it is closed to the public until Summer.  Oh well, I’ll just have to come back here in July. In the meantime, I did take a few pictures. Nothing special. But at least the day wasn’t a waste.

I like to start off a ride with a meal, and recently I discovered some really good clam chowder at Uncle Mo’s in Renton.

These two pictures are off the Cedar river in Renton. The river floods every year, covering the sidewalks.

I believe this used to pipe raw sewage out to the Puget Sound many years ago. I am glad we don’t use this process anymore.

I decided to take a shortcut and take the King County Water Taxi  to Downtown Seattle.

This is the type of tugboat that I worked on in Job Corp when I was in the Marlin Spike Seamanship Program. This vessel is a Foss tugboat.

I don’t often see Downtown Seattle from this perspective. It makes me feel like a tourist.  Seattle really is a pretty city, at least this part is.

On my list of things to do this Summer is to take a couple spins on the Seattle Great Wheel. I hear it’s great for taking pictures of the harbor.
