Boycott SOPA Supporters with Andriod App
Consumers now have a new tool in the fight against SOPA, the disastrous Stop Online Piracy Act currently making it’s way through Congress. SOPA has many supporters in the music and movie industries, as well as other companies in media and legal professions, and they are lobbying Congress for support to pass the SOPA act and make it a law.
The problem with SOPA is that it gives a lot of power to media companies and Intellectual Property copyright owners to go after any one they deem might be in violation of intellectual property and copyright laws, but provides very weak abilities to actually do anything about stopping piracy.
As we all saw recently, GoDaddy’s support of SOPA was quickly reversed when thousands of users boycotted GoDaddy and moved their websites to other hosting providers.
Now, there is a free Android application that helps consumer avoid buying products manufactured by companies that support SOPA or are connected to companies that support SOPA. All you do is use your Android phone to scan the bar-code of a product.
