Create a Windows 7 System Repair Disc

windows7_logoHeaven forbid that it should ever happen that you turn your computer on and Windows 7 will not load because something has gone corrupt. It’s one of those worst nightmare moments when you have no idea if you are ever going to get to your data, or if it still exists at all.

Fortunately, all hope is not lost, if you happen to have a Windows 7 System Recovery DVD for your computer.  You simply put the DVD in the computer and boot to it. When the utility loads, it will guide you though running a few diagnostics, or repairing your Windows 7 operating system.  Typically after that, your computer will boot again, and you will hopefully be reunited with your data.

More than likely, your computer did not ship with a Windows 7 System Recovery DVD, although a few computer boutiques out there do provide a DVD for you just because it is a nice thing to do. If you need to make a DVD, and I strongly recommend that you do, here is how to do it:

To create a Windows 7 System Repair Disk:

You will need a DVD burner and a blank and writable DVD

  1. Insert a blank writable DVD into your DVD burner
  2. Click the Windows 7 Start Button, and type backup into the Search box.
  3. Select “Create a system repair disc” and then select your DVD burner from the popup window.
  4. Select “Create disc”; wait for the disc to be burned, then click Close and OK.
  5. Properly label your new Windows 7 System Repair Disk, and store it safely.

With any luck, you may never need to use your Windows 7 System Restore Disk, but now you have the satisfaction and peace of mind knowing that it is there.
