Free Microsoft Stuff!

 

People don’t generally think of the term “free” in conjunction with “Microsoft”, but in truth, Microsoft actually has a huge list of useful free stuff. You just have to know where to look or how to dig for it. You don’t even have to do that. Because I have done it for you!

OneDrive – Get a free 15 GB OneDrive account to keep and store your documents and pictures. With your free OneDrive account, you get the 15GB storage, but you also get desktop syncing, mobile access, create and edit documents online, built in integration with desktop versions of Microsoft Office 2010 or 2013 , and automatic versioning and history of documents.

Microsoft Download Center – A huge selection of free of Microsoft security and productivity tools, software, and add-ons, drivers, and more.

Worldwide Telescope – Worldwide Telescope is a free download that enables you to access a huge collection of stunning images of the universe from the Hubble Space Telescope and many other space and earth observatories . These can be used to engage students, and to support teaching and learning in Math and Science. It is a great tool to encourage students in research and project based learning around the planets, the solar system and the stars and to give them an appreciation of the scale, complexity and beauty of the universe.

Windows Virtual PC – Windows Virtual PC is the latest Microsoft virtualization technology. You can use it to run more than one operating system at the same time on one computer, and to run many productivity applications on a virtual Windows environment, with a single click, directly from a computer running Windows 7

Free Microsoft Office 365 Online – Create and save documents, spreadsheets, and presentations online, in OneDrive. Share them with others and work together at the same time. Free! In true Microsoft form, you do need to use Microsoft’s Internet Explorer to take advantage of all the features of the online edition, and you do need to have or create a free Microsoft account.

Free eBooks from Microsoft Press – From technical overviews to drilldowns on special topics, these free ebooks are available in PDF, EPUB, and/or Mobi for Kindle formats, ready for you to download.

130 Free Microsoft eBooks – Largest collection of FREE Microsoft eBooks ever, including: Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Office 2013, Office 365, Office 2010, SharePoint 2013, Dynamics CRM, PowerShell, Exchange Server, Lync 2013, System Center, Azure, Cloud, SQL Server, and much more.

Apps for Windows 8 – Microsoft’s App Store has hundreds of free apps for Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Categories include Essential Apps, Games, Music & Video, News & Weather, Entertainment, Books and Reference, Education, and more.

Microsoft Office Mobile (For Android) – Microsoft Office Mobile is the official Office companion optimized for your Android phone. You can access, view and edit your Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint documents from virtually anywhere. Documents look like the originals, thanks to support for charts, animations, SmartArt graphics and shapes. When you make quick edits or add comments to a document, the formatting and content remain intact.
