Greetings! My name is James O’Brien. I am a computer and network support specialist with more than eleven years in the IT industry. During the course of my career, I have worked for great companies like Stream International, Dell Computers, Southwestern Bell and Pacific Bell, Puget Custom Computers, Denali Advanced Integration, and Northwest computer Support. I also owned and operated my own company providing onsite computer and network support services to businesses throughout Hunt County, Texas. I am currently employed at Denali Advanced Integration as a Desktop Support Technician II.
I enjoy the challenges that come with working in IT support. I enjoy learning and employing new advancements in computer technology. The computer industry changes constantly, so I am learning constantly. But more than that, what I enjoy most about working in support is helping people understand and utilize the technology in the course of their work and daily lives. I feel great every time I can use my skills and talent to help other people.
Skill Set
Adept at installing, configuring, and supporting Windows-based desktop and server operating systems. Proficient in Windows 2000 Professional and 2000 Server, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 2003 Server and Windows 7.
Experienced working in Active Directory, creating user accounts, running audits, and managing policies.
Substantial experience installing and supporting applications such as current versions of MS Office, Adobe Creative Suites, AutoCAD, and other productivity applications.
Background in installing, configuring, and supporting network components and configurations, resolving data transmission issues, configuring network connections, and utilizing tools and monitoring systems to maintain network functionality.
Strong experience working with end-users to identify and resolve technical issues and maintaining records of communication and problems and remedial actions taken to resolve or track issues.

Help Desk Support – I have excellent customer services skills. I am professional, yet friendly and supportive. I truly enjoy working with customers and helping them troubleshoot and resolve issues. I have three years experience providing help desk support for three major ISP’s, a leading computer manufacture, and customer system builder specializing in building state-of-the-art high performance computer systems.
Field Support – Whether in a business or private environment, I arrive onsite on time, prepared, and ready to work. My customer service skills, my technical skills, and my strong work ethic make me an excellent field technician. I also have seven years of experience as a technical consultant and as a field technician.
Network Installation and Support – I have installed literally miles of network cable and network equipment including routers, servers, and hubs in business and residential environments. I have excellent troubleshooting skills with TCP/IP connections. And I am very proficient at installing and configuring wireless networks and network devices.
Graphics Development – Although I am a self-taught student of graphical and web design, I do have experience and skill set creating beautiful layouts for websites, graphics, and photo layouts for business and personal use, I am also good at doing custom photo designs and photo restoration. My Current Status:
I am currently working in a full-time position in an IT role in Redmond, Washington. However, I am available and interested in pursuing part-time or per diem work for projects outside my regular work hours or on the weekends.
